Stitz Selenium Light Meter - Manual required

Hiya,
I've just got my hands on a Stitz Selenium Cell light meter and am wondering
if anybody has a copy of a manual for one that they could scan. Or knows where
I could find one on line.
Unfortunately there isn't a model number on the device at all.
I can probably work it out, but would like to know all it can do if I can.
Cheers,
Rich

You can't readily take incident readings with a TTL meter. You can buy
diffusers to go over the lens, but it's rather inconvenient. A hand meter is
much handier.

You could always try the old trick of pointing it at your hand.

If your camera's lighmeter accurate, why you need seperate lightmeter?

I no longer have the Leningrad. I have no idea what I did with it though.
Keep meaning to get a card anyway. Will try surgical tape in the
meantime however, thanks.
That's more than I paid for the meter! Seems a bit pricey for a photocopy.
Thanks anyway.

Re: Stitz Selenium Light Meter - Manual required

You're right, there will be 2 exposure scales, the high- intensity one for
measuring with the slit, and the low-intensity one without.
The Leningrad has a flat diffuser for incident readings (is yours missing)?.
I don't know about the Stitz, but if you can find a layer or layers of
diffusing material which absorbs exactly 3 stops and tape it over the cell,
that should do. It's not quite as accurate as a proper hemisphere, though.
A reflected reading off a Kodak grey card has the same effect, as long as
it's in the same light as the subject.
Oldtimer Cameras list one at £6.95 for 4 photocopied pages.

Does that mean you have a manual?

Re: Stitz Selenium Light Meter - Manual required

Yeah I know. There is a flip-up cover with a slit in it that blocks most of
the light. I'm wondering if this is for bright sun and fast film where the
needle goes off the dial or what, and if the unit is capable of measuring
incident light as it is.
It is quite nicely made, much better than the Leningrad meter I used to have.
Will have to check its accuracy by comparing it with my camera's meter.

What do you need to know? There aren't too many options by the look of it.
