Re: Table for x zoom and mm 3x zoom is the ratio of the long end of the zoom to the short end and has no absolute value. Eg.: a 70-210mm zoom is 3x, an 18-108mm zoom is 6x. Focal length (usually described in mm, but also in inches) is the distance between the optical centre of the lens and the focal point when focussed at infinity. Richard Polhill
