Scan mass signatures

Hi
I need to capture approximately 800 staff members signatures, so they
can be stored electronically and used on forms/letters etc.
Setting aside the security implications, what would the easiest and
most cost effective way of doing this? I was thinking of simply passing
an A4 sheet of paper around (at staff team meetings), with grid borders
and asking staff to sign within each box, then scanning with a flatbed
scanner and Photoshop.
Is this a viable option, or would there be a better approach?

to a folder then set up an action on using the first page to
copy/past/save each sig as a new file then batch process the rest of the
pages.

Thanks for the feedback guys.
This then leads to the next question - the scanning and slicing process
within Photoshop.
If I scan to Photoshop, what is the quickest way of exporting each
individual signature? I aim to have 6 or 8 signatures on an A4 sheet.
Is it a matter of creating each sig as a layer using the rectangle
marquee tool, and exporting that layer as a gif, or what other options
do I have?

Agree completely. You might want to create your signature sheet with say blue
outline for the boxes. Then, if you scan in color, you can easily see where to
make the "cuts," and it might help keep their signatures "inside the box."
Even if you scan in Greyscale, it should help them see their space better.

That works fine, done that been there, just specify they sign inside the
box with no overlaps and they use a black felt tip pen, experiment and
provide the pens, make sure it's a big box then it's easy to select.
