What Do You Make Of This?

Tell me, what do you make of auctions like this?
http://cgi.ebay.com/Adobe-Illustrator-CS2-CS-Full-Version-Trusted-seller_W0QQitemZ150027118290QQihZ005QQcategoryZ185QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Would you trust this enough to bid? It looks legitimate to me ... but gosh,
how can it be so inexpensive?
There are several of these up for auction ... and I don't mind buying it
from somebody, if it's legal and complete ... able to be registered, etc.
But how do you know it's ok?
I can buy it locally at a Comp USA that's closing .. for $160.00 plus tax,
but if I could save more .. I'd like to.
Nothing wrong with buying from Ebay ... I just want to be safe. Whatcha
think?

He isn't, as near as I can tell. In fact, one of the people who left
comments for that seller specifically said the disc does not come in a
box. (He's showing a picture of the box, but he's not saying that the
software comes in the box.)

Re: What Do You Make Of This?

Most likely you will find that the seller or the copier who made the pirate disk
has placed the necessary numbers on the CD.
If I make a backup of something I have bought, I place the key on the CD as it
is so easy to lose the original information and without that you are stuck. A
little label gets lost and that cannot happen on a CD.
Were I in posisiton to need to make money in a dishonest fashion then that
backup disk is something I would copy and sell. However some people need to
sleep at night. :-)

The word 'box' appears nowhere on the page.
Read these words carefully:
"THIS IS THE FULL VERSION & YOU WILL RECEIVE THE SERIAL CODE WITH THE
CD"

I was offered a 'genuine' copy of Adobe CS a while back. Apparently it
was a beta version and when asked to insert the serial, any number would
do. Later discovered it was a pre-cracked pirate.
You have to be very careful about these things. If it sells for $10
nobody will buy it cus it's a fake but price it at $200 and see how many
take the bait. Of course Adobe could knock this on the head a reduce the
retail price but those who've paid $$$ will be screaming for a rebate
and also if you use both platforms you're forced to buy it twice.

Re: What Do You Make Of This?

OK .. gotcha .. but a question: how can he be claiming it comes in the box
... with the ability to register it?
I've decided to buy at my local CompUSA ... upgrade for $160.00 (they're
going out of business)
Thanks,
Dee

Read the seller's feedback.
You are buying a copied disc. That is, you will receive an illegal,
bootleg product. This seller is the simplest form of criminal: he has
one copy of Illustrator, and he is making copies of the CD and selling
the copies.

At that price it can't be legitimate. Too good to be true means it is to
good to true.
