Reduced Range on Kodak Slide Projector IR Remote
Hi Folks, I need some advice on a newly purchased (used) Kodak IR remote + receiver unit (model KODAK EKTAPRO IR Remote System RA 712 1072). The remote unit looks very new, and is in mint condition on the outside. But, the unit shows a really wierd problem. I use the remote on a Ektapro 9020 projector (also tried it with a 9010 model, as well as a Leica RT-s) Even with *new* batteries installed, the range on the remote is lesss than 2-3ft, and I have to point the transmitter *directly* towards the projector receiver. The manual states that the remote should have a range of about 30ft or so, 360 degrees. I tried changing the channels (from '0' to '1'), but the problem persists. In addition, there is a distinct 'burnt' smell that emnates from the LED end of the projector transmitter. However, the unit is functional, with a highly reduced range! Anyone encountered this problem before? Should I return the unit or is there a reasonably quick fix (I'm not averse to opening up the unit and replacing components if called for. The remote is quite difficult to find in the market, and I'm willing to do anything it takes, within reason) Thanks! DH.
