Ping DD - Flash? what flash?

Ahhh. Different workstation and the lamer hillbilly shows up. Busted? surely
you are joking? You can't even get the type of lighting right, how you going
to pick the camera?
I don't know where you got the idea I used flash on these shots I posted.
Hardly a macro shot at all, that one Dallas claimed was flashed, just heavy
cropping. You two wannabes would know all about that stuff. I'm just new at
it.
"Concensus in this group is that the image is ruined by incorrect use of
flash, as is the "macro" shot you posted afterwards."
The lamer who even suggested I use flash for natural light photography is so
far off he wouldn't know if I used a Polaroid. Ever hear of "FLOOD LIGHTS"?
They use 'em when they're expecting Ryadia or the Moreton Island ferry to
dock after dark. In case you missed it, this is pic of a mooring area for
boats. The pelicans are just hanging around for a feed if the guys in the
tinny catch a few undersize fish. I suppose it never occurred to either of
you to ask any questions? Nah, too easy then. Better to make an idiot out of
yourselves calling a flashed macro shot, eh?
http://www.weprint2canvas.com/gallery/albums/flowers/hard_worker_full.jpg is
the full frame of the "macro" you picked wrong. Don't worry mate, one day
you and the loony will get it right - hell will probably freeze first.

Re: Ping DD - Flash? what flash?

...
So who do you call when Ryadia is going to dock so they can turn on the
lights? Cause there are no marine services at Amity Point... does the camp
ranger turn them on? or perhaps my mate Jabe turns them on, since he lives
right accross the road? ...no wait a minute... they couldn't, because when
I was there over the weekend there were no floodllights in that position!
There are low power "down" lights on the jetty.... but that is some 20m to
your left and they certainly wouldn't be providing that light. And then
there higher power street lights in the carpark/boat ramp area about 20-30m
to your right.... but again, they are the wrong direction and also the wrong
colour temp to be proving that light.
Oh!.... and when was the last time a Moreton Ferry docked at Amity after
dark? I would love to see a time table of the Moreton Ferry.... surely one
is available online somewhere?
No... its a swimming area inside the ropes and the area to right is the boat
ramp and you are not allowed to moor there.... besides at low tide it's only
about a foot deep and useless for mooring.
Pot calling the kettle black! Do you really think these people don't know a
flash shot when they see one? Do you really think the tell-tale signs of
colour temp and direction elude these people?

Re: Ping DD - Flash? what flash?

The image in question is the one at the right of this strip of
thumbnails:
http://community.webshots.com/photo/2379394200048119320DNqFeS
Unfortunately I wasn't quick enough to grab the original full size shot
- Douglas has now pulled not only the original image, but these
thumbnails as well. I wonder why?
Even at that size, it seems pretty clear it has a *flashlit*
foreground. The color is all wrong for floodlights, and can you
seriously believe anyone would floodlight *that area* at sunset? They
dock a tourist ferry against them poles..? (O;

Re: Ping DD - Flash? what flash?

....
Hmm.
It is worth noting that:
1. The light on the pelicans and boat was quite bluish. Unlikely to
have been from floodlights, but slim possibility I guess
2. I'm sure I remember the light seemed quite strong near the base of
the image, suggesting the light emanated from an onboard..
But the problem is, Douglas has pulled the image. Why would he do
that, unless perhaps to prevent closer examination, now that he claims
it wasn't flashlit..
Nah, surely not!!!

Re: Ping DD - Flash? what flash?

Yawn. Whatever.
The lighting is dull, and the image is deadset boring.
But he is, if nothing, consistent. For the record, the *initial*
absolutely terrible image that was criticised has been pulled down by
Douglas, presumably from embarrassment. It really was AWFUL. How an
alleged professional could have looked at it and said 'Yes, that will
go nicely on a calendar'... words fail me.
I'll bet orders are flooding in for that calendar. I'll be first in
line for my copy!! I hope that initial image makes the cut...
