LX and AF280T flash

Hi there,
I've been using the Pentax LX and AF280T flash in combination on a few
rolls of film, and I'm finding the results tend to be over-exposed,
quite badly. I've been using the flash on TTL auto, and selecting a
sensible aperture, with the camera on automatic. For some reason when
I'm taking photos on TTL auto, the flash seems to be dumping the entire
charge, whereas in Auto modes (red and green) it discharges much less.
Is this a problem with the camera or the flash? And has anyone ever
come across this problem before?
Thanks in advance
Duncan.

Re: LX and AF280T flash

That's a good thought, though I don't know anyone else who has an LX.
The OK signal doesn't fire in the viewfinder (with finder a check on).
I tried firing the flash at a white wall at a distance of about 3
meters, on f/4 in TTL - it completely empties the flash, whereas in
green or red auto, it only discharges a little!
I think you're right about it being the camera - probably the ttl
quencher flash contacts, or something...
But now I've just started to get another problem!!! Every alternate
shot on either 'A' or 1/30 or below (with/or without flash), the mirror
is flipping up, but nothing else happens! (requires moving the shutter
speed dial to reset - which results in the shutter being fired) Between
1/2000 and 1/60 the shutter merrily fires away... This is very
worrying as I have a shoot this weekend, and no back up!!! ARGHHH
Duncan.
