Re: creating games Snippage> Hmm, I'll take a look and see if I can scare up a few tutorial sites for you. Right now I'm at home and on dialup - so it ain't going to be quick. But a few suggestions based on the image you posted a link to. 1) Take a look at the thread in this forum - where someone is working on something of a similar nature. It might give you a few ideas. Urban Brick Street/Road Project http://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=124&threadid=78635&enterthread=y 2) Here is one of the most popular (according to the quick search I did on google) tutorial on creating a road surface in PS. Road Texture http://www.toxiclab.org/tutorial.asp?ID=56 3) If you have a broadband connection, you might download this collection of pre-made texture maps. Several years ago a company was going to produce a game called Golgotha - but the project was abandoned. They dumped all the resources that they had created into public domain - texture maps, sound files, source code, etc. There are a number of sites that have this stuff for download - the one I've posted a link to is just one I ran across doing a quick link - you might look and see if there is a site you like better. Some sites have the texture maps set up where you can browse through them and get the ones that interest you. Anyway - you might find something you could use or at least something that would give you some ideas for your own work. http://www.fileshack.com/file.x/1978/Golgotha+Textures/ 4) If you've got the money to spend - you might look at getting something like this roadway generator. I have no clue as to how good something like this is, but I ran acrossit and thought I'd mention it. Road & Car Park Generators Bundle - psd http://ambientlight.co.uk/component/page,shop.product_details/flypage,shop.flypage/product_id,50/category_id,21/option,com_phpshop/Itemid,58/ 5) If this was me that was doing something like this, one of the things I would look into is creating some custom brushes of the diffrent elements - like the road strips, the grass, the gravel, and so on.
