Would you do this?

In a small friendly photo club meeting, that has a small friendly photo
contest each meeting, and the members vote on the "best" photo, would
you vote for your own photo?
I have conflicting thoughts on this. On the one hand, it may very well
be the best.
On the other hand, people tend to view their own work more forgivingly
when it's compared to others (while being too critical of their own
work when it stands alone), so can they really be truly objective?
Something about it doesn't seem quite "right", though I can't put my
finger on why. I can't come up with a reason why it's necessarily
"wrong", either.

No more so than yourself.

Re: Would you do this?

If all the entrants at the show only voted for their own picture then all
the votes
would cancel: every photo gets one vote.

I'm assuming you're being obtuse on purpose.
It could very well be. Read the original post.

Re: Would you do this?

OTOH, if it isn't good enough for you to vote for, why did you submit it
in the first place?
What it comes back to is you should vote for the photo that you really
think is the best, whoever submitted it. That may on occasion even be
your own photo.

Re: Would you do this?

That's what I keep coming back to. To me, it's a matter of context.
Politics? I'd be disappointed if you didn't vote for yourself. Even
in a serious photo contest I think I'd be more accepting of it. But,
in what is supposed to be a small friendly non-competitive atmosphere,
I think it's just poor social grace.

Re: Would you do this?

I used to live next door to a couple who were very active in our small
town. He decided to run for city council. He was quite embarrassed
when he got ONE vote... his own. Turns out his wife lied to him when
she told him she voted for him, also.
